Frugal Fun at Leith Hill

When I was much younger, the thought of going for a long walk in the countryside could not have been less appealing.  I guess I just couldn't appreciate the beautiful scenery and fresh air that we're lucky enough to have on our door steps.

Today is a different story all together.  On those bright, sunny days in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, there really is nothing better than a stroll in the stunning Surrey Hills.  I guess for me and my current frugal lifestyle, visiting different parts of the English countryside is not only a good way to have fun without spending a penny, but is also an excellent way to clear the mind and get some exercise.

A couple of days ago, Alex and I went for a stroll at Leith Hill in Dorking, Surrey.  The footpath we took was only about a mile long, and led us to a 250 year old tower and absolutely breathtaking views.  Even though we decided not to climb to the top of the tower, the views from the hill were no less impressive.  While at the top, we found a quiet bench and enjoyed a flask of tea and some M&S caramel crispy bites (my absolute favourite!) and admired the scenery around us.

There really is nothing better than a walk in the British countryside.  Fresh air, a flask of strong tea and my favourite human to enjoy it with- what more could you ever want?!
