I'm not going to beat around the bush, when I saw this recipe for salted caramel brownies pop up on ViviannaDoesMakeup's Youtube channel (watch the video here), any thoughts about my summer body went straight out the window. The ingredients of these brownies do not include avocado or beetroot that will contribute to defined abs or a perky bum, but instead will leave you floating around in a chocolatey, salted caramel filled heaven.
I'm definitely not 'British Bake Off' standard when it comes to baking, however these were so easy to make and turned out pretty amazing, even if I do say so myself. The original brownie recipe is by 'Anna Jones' in her book "A Modern Way to Eat" and shows you how to make your own caramel sauce, however, I took Vivianna's advice to save time by buying ready-made caramel sauce and sprinkling some salt over the top at the end.
Here is what you need...
Ingredients
150g Dark Chocolate
150g Unsalted Butter
250g Unrefined Golden Caster Sugar
3 Eggs
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
100g Plain Flour
150g Caramel Sauce
A Sprinkle of Salt
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2. Melt the butter and chocolate over a bain-marie until completely combined.
3. Pour the chocolate and butter mixture into a bigger bowl and add the sugar.
4. Add the eggs one by one, then the vanilla essence and finally the flour.
5. Give the mixture a good old stir until completely combined and pour into a greased and baking parchment lined tin.
6. Dollop the caramel sauce sporadically and use a cocktail stick to marble the sauce through the brownie mixture.
7. Bake for 25 minutes.
8. Once out the oven, allow to cool for 20 minutes (if you can wait that long) and sprinkle on some salt.
9. Finally, slice and serve, either on their own or with a side of vanilla ice cream.
10. Enjoy!
