I'm not going to pretend like I'm one of those girls who jumps out of bed at the crack of dawn and goes for a run, but nor can I go weeks without exercise and not feel like a complete potato. On those days when I'm feeling my least motivated, I have a few ways of getting back on track and down the gym for a work out. Today I thought I would share those with you.
Realistic Instagram Accounts
A potentially dangerous one. I'm not talking about the Instagram accounts of 6ft tall, Victoria's Secret Angels, but instead, the accounts of people who have similar body types to your own. This does take a little more sifting through and finding pages that you actually find inspirational, but once you do, your goals become much more realistic and you don't end up comparing yourself to figures that are impossible for yourself to achieve. I love the 'A Bikini A Day' girls (Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman) for motivation, they're figures are probably definitely a bit ambitious, but their toned curves are definitely something I'd love to achieve.
Get a Gym Buddy
Going to the gym with a friend opens up an element of competition where neither of you want to let the other down. This means that you push harder and get in an overall more effective work out. My current workout buddy is my Mum; there really is nothing like being under your Mum's orders to make you work harder!
Get a Goal
Having a clear goal in mind is a big part of my fitspo, but this doesn't necessarily just mean a goal weight. It could be being able to wear that pair of jeans again, or an event or holiday on the horizon. My most recent goal was my holiday to Gozo, Malta- I wanted to be looking fit and healthy! Next it will be the upcoming festive party season and looking good in that LBD.
Track your progress
Recently I've been loving tracking how active I am on my Iphone Health app. It gives an estimate of what I have done during the day and throughout the week; being able to physically see how active (or inactive) I've been, really motivates me to get down to the gym for a run on the treadmill.
These are just a few of the tips I use to help me maintain a relatively healthy and active lifestyle. How do you get your fitspo? I'd love some new suggestions!
