Christmas Red

So it's the 1st of December...my god, how did that come around so fast!  Since it is officially the start of the festive season (yes, I'll now allow the christmas music and decorations to commence), I thought it would be appropriate to get the bauble rolling with a classic Christmassy golden eye and red lip.

Although 99.5% of the time I'm a nude lipstick girl, I can't seem to resist a gorgeous deep red when Christmas rolls around.  On my lips here I have the cult classic, 101 by Rimmel.  A red lipstick is a must have in any make up collection; I really believe there is a shade suitable for everyone, whether it be a bright orange, a deep burgundy or traditional pillarbox red.

I love everything about this Rimmel lipstick, from the shade to the formula.  The shade has blue undertones, which I feel flatter my skin tone the best (plus, blue tones make your teeth look super white!).  The formula is creamy on application but dries down to a velvety matte finish, however doesn't ever feel drying (something super important when it's freezing cold outside and everything from your hair to your skin is just SO DRY).

On my eyes I used the Nars 'Rise Up To The Moon' palette to create a gorgeous sparkly golden look with a subtly defined crease.  This look is perfect for those who feel intimidated by red lipstick; I find matching a bold lip with an understated eye in the daytime the best way to keep things neutral while still rocking that festive vibe.  The look can definitely be vamped up for evening by applying a dark matte brown through the crease and smudging a little into the bottom lash line, you could even take it a step further with some gorgeous fluttery false lashes.

I kept the rest of my face pretty basic by using the same trusty trio (as per), L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation, Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and Bourjois Healthy Match Powder.  I lightly contoured my cheekbones with the sleek contour kit and finally bronzed the high points using my matte Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzer.

What do you think of this make up look?, I'd love to hear your feedback!
