Cappucino Nudes

If you know me, you'll know that I'm a massive advocate of the brown smokey eye for any occasion that involves a little more than a hair brush.  Not only do I feel that brown, bronze and gold tones suit my skin tone the best, but there are just so many looks you can create with the same colour palette, whether it be more daytime or evening appropriate.

I spotted the Max Factor Nudes Collection palette in 'Cappucino Nudes' in Superdrug and thought the colours looked absolutely beautiful.  There is the perfect ratio of mattes to shimmers and light to dark tones, meaning the looks you can create with this palette are endless.  I hadn't really heard anyone speak about this palette before, or Max Factor eyeshadows in general really, so thought I would pick it up and give it a whirl myself.

I am so impressed.  Like I said before, I love that the palette contains both matte and shimmer finishes, and a really broad spectrum of tones.  I actually used the palette for the first time on my Graduation day and created a really lovely, subtle but defined eye look using the lighter shimmery shades and the lightest brown matte colour to deepen the crease.  Maybe I'll recreate the look and post it soon? Let me know if you'd like to see it!

Sometimes I find a dud shade in a palette like this (usually it's the palest shades) but I haven't found one colour here that I dislike or wouldn't use as much as the others.  The formula of the shadows are beautifully pigmented and smooth to apply, the only downside I have is that there tends to be a bit of fall out on application, but this can be solved by tapping the excess shadow off your brush before applying it to your lids.  The physical packaging is slim and compact, something I love for slipping in my make up bag when travelling; plus, it's beautiful and gold, what's more to love!

For this look I used the medium shimmery brown colour across the entire lid, and used a Zoeva flat shader brush to really pack the colour on.  Next I deepened the crease and outer corner, first with the lightest matte brown, then the medium and finally the darkest matte brown, making sure I blended each layer out with a clean brush.  To smoke things out a little more, I smudged a mixture of the light and medium matte brown shades into my lower lash line, applied the L'oreal Liquid Liner across my top lash line and finally, lashings of mascara.  I decided it wasn't quite smokey enough for my liking, so I also added a set of my favourite lashes by 'Kiss Lashes' in 'Iconic'.

I decided to pair two different lipsticks with this eye look, and would wear either depending on the occasion!  The first is 'Very Victoria' by Charlotte Tilbury.  I absolutely adore the formula of this lipstick because it is matte, yet creamy and is perfect for any occasion; it's a very wearable option when going bolder on the eyes.

The second lipstick is MAC 'Whirl'; a classic in the lipstick loving community!  This is a dark brown, matte shade that really gives the look a darker, more sultry overall finish.  It's perfect for those who, like me, don't mind going dark on both the eyes and the lips simultaneously!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear it?  Let me know if you've tried the palette, I'd love to know your thoughts!
