No matter how many times "you do not need any more lipstick" whizzes through my mind as I manically swatch every nude and bright available to me on the beautifully displayed MAC Lipstick stand, "OK, one more won't hurt" always seems to prevail.
Rewind two weeks and you'd find me in this exact situation while shopping with friends (who, by the way are complete enablers and practically forced me into making the purchase!). I've been searching for the perfect deep brown colour for months after deciding my usual classic pinky nudes just weren't doing it for me anymore; so no, I didn't need another lipstick, but this was the one I've been looking for.
MAC Whirl is a matte texture, but is incredibly creamy and doesn't ever feel drying or cakey on the lips. I've found it applies best on top of a lipliner (I've been loving Topshop's lip liner in 'Ceramic'), because that way the colour lasts and lasts and lasts. The colour is brown, however has a slight rosey undertone which I think makes it far more wearable whilst still being a bit vampy. It is actually coming across a lot more red toned in the photos above, so I really recommend swatching it yourself!
I've been wearing it with a good base, strong brows, brown eyeshadow and lashings of mascara but I also think it would look fab with a bolder eye and a strong contour for night time. The look is actually quite 90's and reminds me a lot of (I hate myself for saying this) Kylie Jenner. Whirl is definitely a more wearable option for those who want to wear a bolder lip during the day, but aren't quite confident enough to pull off a deep berry or red.
